Shailan Patel is a passionate advocate for empowering students to find meaningful careers. Graduating from the University of Bristol, England, Shailan has since made New Zealand his home.

His career has been diverse, starting in recruitment and event sales in London, to sales and advertising for three of NZ’s largest media companies, before joining MYOB in 2015 to manage their education channel across Australia and NZ.

He loves how education is full of promise, ambition and opportunity, and works with students to help them find success whatever their career path.

Shailan joined the NZAGE Committee in July 2021, the Board in 2023 and stepped in to the Co-Chair role in 2025.
